Dennis Dominator EBB 846WDennis Dominator EBB 846W

I have a Dominator configured as a single deck Incident Command Unit - ex Tyne and Wear Metropolitan Fire Brigade. This year the transfer gearbox which takes the drive from the Voith box to the back axle has cracked and is leaking oil. This I believe is a part exclusive to the Dominator. I believe it has already been replaced once in the short (35,000 mile) lifetime of the machine by the Brigade workshops.

Does anyone have experience of this problem and can offer any kind of advice. Unfortunately the extremely helpful Dennis service depot just 15 miles away was closed a short time ago in order to give 'Service Excellence' which now means a 300 mile round trip to savour this experience!

Best wishes,
Barry Hutchinson

Dennis chassisDennis Chassis

I have recently purchased an early Dennis chassis which I am trying to identify. It has wooden wheels and solid tyres and construction very similar to that of the 1907 Dennis bus drawing in "Dennis, world truck series".

I have not yet been able to find the chassis number (or diff number), and only have the stampings from the front axle to go by "Kirkstall Forge Ltd 100191".

Is the association able to offer any help with identification?

From the design (greased back axle, wooden wheels etc), I think I can safely date it as pre-WWI and of 2-3 ton capacity.

Ben Hawkins

Dennis Falcon V (ANA 100Y)

Hi, My nane is Kevan Beardmore and I would like to trace an old Dennis Falcon V coach REG NUMBER (ANA 100Y) as I have spent many hours behind the wheel whilst owned by JF Huxley coaches in the early 1990s.

This vehicle was fitted with a semi auto gearbox by myself during this time and proved more reliable than the VOITH electronic fully auto box but still suffered other problems. Would love to find this coach and maybe purchase it for restoration if not already been done

Many thanks
Kev.

Dennis H. Information request
Dear Sir,
I am sorry to bother you, but could you please help.

My old dad of 82 years remembers travelling on a double decker bus between Accrington and Burnley Lancashire around the 1930's. He says the upstairs seats were down the central isle, back to back facing the windows. I have been told that this was probably one of 2 buses, No 58 & 59 Dennis, class H and the bodies were built by Brush's at Loughborough. They were eventually sold to the army in 1949.

Dad would really love a picture of this bus, could you please tell me if you know of a site I could get one from.

I do hope you don't mind me taking the liberty in asking for your help, but I would like to find a picture or more information for my dad.

Thanks
Sheila

John Lines writes on behalf of The Dover Transport Museum.

We have an ex-Llandudno Roberts bodied Dennis G Toast rack which is on loan from a chap in Rye, Sussex. I recently wrote and invited him to renew his loan agreement with the Museum which he has done. In his letter, he said that he would like to get the vehicle back on the road.

There are two main problems, one the upholstery is in very shabby condition but I have a chap coming to look at it next week and quote to renew it. The second problem is more difficult. The top of the radiator, which is aluminium, has worn thin over the years and is splitting. I guess that it will mean having a new top tank cast, but thought it would be worth asking a wider audience of Dennis enthusiasts, in case you have any knowledge of spares for such things!
